Launched as the terrestrial equivalent of a cable and satellite general entertainment channel, Five has in recent years surpassed ITV 1 in the showing of big budget movies, live football, fly-on-the-wall docusoaps and general entertainment. BBC News 24. The Beeb where late to the game in 24 hour news broadcasting, but as with all things BBC, thanks to the unique way in which it is funded (from a license fee rather than advertising) the quality of it's news content and factual programming is second to none. Sky News. Despite being the UK sister to the US's Fox news this Rupert Murdoch owned station is surprisingly fair and balanced when it comes to none political programming. BBC Three and Four. Skipped over in this clip because they are not a 24 hour a day addition to the BBC line-up, but when on air you can expect first run comedy on three and first run serious documentaries and political analysis on four. UKTV History. The Hitler channel. Re-runs of quality factual programming from yesteryear. An essential part of FreeView. E4 and E4+1. Channel 4 except with more adverts for accident claim and insurance companies. More 4 and More 4+1. Channel 4 except more adverts for Tampons and trailers for Lost season 2. ITV2. No one watches ITV1, but at least ITV2 has Pop Idol / American Idol / I used to be a celebrity.. ..get me back on the telly. ITV3. Pointless. Utterly pointless. ITV4. Toilet. Sky Three. Young people "trapped" in a TV studio conveniently located on a tropical island re-runs and wash your linen in public "talk" shows where no one listens to each other, much less show a little decorum and keep their filthy habits to themselves. Sky Sports News. 24 hour a day rolling sports news from the people who own half the rights to actually show sports on UK Television. Adverts for channels you can't afford / already have and constant loops of interviews with footballers. The presenters, however, are invariably really HOT women. ABC1. Breifly skipped over in this clip because it is not a 24 hour a day channel, but it seems to be a fairly well done channel in the vein of Bravo or Men and Motors. Rockford files re-runs and "quiz" shows for the hard of thinking tend to pad out it's more watch-able "naughty boy" programming. TMF. The music factory. Adverts for ring-tones and car insurance interspersed with heavily subsidized "music" for people with no brain (teenagers). Ideal World. QVC with a lower budget. Bid TV. Buy stuff really cheap. Price drop TV. Buy stuff really cheep. Radio stations which follow the TV line up include all the usual suspects from the BBC, including radio 6 which showcases new music and radio 7 which does the same for comedy as well as classic re-runs and talking books.
